Who am I?

Who am I?

A very first question of human at the stage of curiousity about his or her existence

Who am I?. I do believe this question will leave us to wonder for a while.  It might be overlooked and considered as a very basic and simple question for some people out there. Maybe some of us will blatantly say “I am a student”, “I am Obama”,” I am Bawi Kuwu”,” I am a lecturer”, and so on and so forth simply to define the label attached on us. Are we sure that this simple question being viewed as another ordinary question after all?. It might be looked as simple as it is, but surely in here I am trying to say that this question has some meanings to lead us to explore and muse  what actually “who am I?” possibly means for every humankind and especially in my own perspective.
This wh-question  on the linguistic point of view  especially grammatical approach, puts us ourselves as both subject and object. This question, which we ask, is asked and addressed to us or I make an anology that it is like when we are facing a mirror to see our reflection on the mirror. Semantically , I reckon it  is more than a  typically question that  needs ‘information’ but it is as a form of humans’ curiousity which comes from our inner, to convince us about something what we call as ‘existence’. We live and that is why we exist after all.
Simply it might be answered really shortly by saying: I am me. It is not wrong at all, but that answer does not really satisfy enough for every human who ,I think, will crave to muse over his/her curiosity about himself/herself. “Me” can be owned by every-me- and it is addressed to approximately 7 bilion humans in the world. Thus, the answer later on will be varied for each individual.
When it comes to me as individual,  my answer at first would be like when being asked about my personal information. I am Noor Syahri Rahmadani. That particular name or  label, given by my parents, might be coincidently used by another human in this planet. To specify that answer, I might add by saying, I am Noor Syahri Rahmadani, Dani, a son of Igun isa and Titin Sumarni, a boy who is now 20 years old and he has been in process of growing up,  a brother of seven siblings in the family, a nephew of my aunts and my uncles, a grandchild of my parents’parent, a friend of people I have been befriending with since elementary school until now, and more and more specific details I would give. I could say that the more I ask and repeat this question on myself, the answer will evolve as the time passes by every single second.
From religious side, I believe this question will significantly affect every soul. Humans were born to the earth, as the creatures who are given a vital organ called “brain”, that it is to think the surroundings, outside and inside, and we end up wonder, why do we exist after all? what for?who am I then? A mere human?. At this point, I leave this point as personal experience that personally differs among the others.
To sum this opinion of mine up, I find this question is not a mere question at all. Moreover, it is like a stepping stone and it has its domino effect to dig up and know  ourselves further and better. As I said previously, the more we ask this one, the more the answer will evolve, I believe that we,as humans, consciously change time after time as the nature of human development. I reckon this question as a door to lead us to define ourselves that our existance is ‘meaningful’. Finally and briefly, I am Noor Syahri Rahmadani, I am very proud of myself and grateful for good and bad things God has given to me. I do mistake and I do learn in every moment of my life, that is me, I rule myself, I define myself, and I am me.
